Visuals

We've build some mockups and flyers to visualize the concept. The mockups can be found at Tije's "Public Space Invader" log.

Before creating those beautiful visuals, we did some research. We placed two mirrors facing eachother and one in the middle of them and played around with some basic lights, to see the effect. Although it's very minimal, the results raised my expectations. This zip-file (7,17mb) contains some photo's and a videoclip of the experiment.

Square Lights

The document for our concept, Square Lights, can be found here (pdf, 242kb).

Assignment 1: Grote Markt Haarlem

The Grote Markt in Haarlem is a large square. I think it's one of the best public spaces I know. Visit it any sunny or sunday and you know why I picked it for this assignment.

The only decoration they applied to the square is a row of trees (see the picture below). You would expect the square to look very empty in the winter. However, this is not the case. Even when it's not crowded, the Grote Markt looks friendly and warm.
